Under the patronage of the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Dr. Ibtihaj Al-Kamal, the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor concluded, today, in Aden, the 16-day campaign against gender-based violence, funded by the United Nations Population Fund, and in partnership with the Gender-Based Violence Cluster and in the presence of the Psychological Care Foundation in Aden
At the closing ceremony, which came under the slogan "Safety and Dignity for a Better Reality," the advisor to the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor Ghazi Abdullah indicated that the aim of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women is to raise societal awareness about the extent of the problems facing women around the world and highlight The spotlight on the true nature of the problem, stressing that the Yemeni government is committed to international conventions and covenants for the protection of women and girls from violence, by developing a guide for joint measures to protect them, and continuing efforts to take effective measures to protect women from all kinds of violence.
The representative of the United Nations Population Fund, Nestor Umuhanji, said, through a video recording, that the celebration of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women this year aims to highlight the courage, resilience and positive role that women in Yemen continue to play in the midst of the conflict that has been going on for six years. This year, the Fund continued to support nearly one million women with protection services, health, legal aid, psychological support, economic empowerment and livelihood opportunities.
The closing ceremony, in the presence of the Director General of the General Department for Women and Children at the Ministry, Fayza Abdul Majeed, included a number of singing and theatrical performances aimed at raising awareness of the importance of eliminating gender-based violence.
