Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) centers
Funded by the United Nations Population Fund, PCF implemented the Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Centers project. The MHPSS centers are considered one of a kind as they cover a big gap in the arena of specialized mental health services in the targeted governorates.
These MHPSS centers are considered essential seeds for improving mental health, as they provide psychosocial support services free of charge. The MHPSS centers have an admission department dedicated for GBV female survivors who are considered the most vulnerable and most in need of psychological care. The MHPSS centers have a specialized cadre supervised by the Psychiatric Care Developmental Foundation in coordination with the Ministry of Public Health and population, and the health offices in the targeted governorates.
The MHPSS centers provide specialized mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) services (day and night emergency care- psychiatric consultations - psychotropic medications - rehabilitation and community integration - medical examination - individual psychological support sessions), and focused /non-specialized MHPSS services (case management - group support sessions - Psychological First Aid (PFA), in addition to the awareness -raising sessions held at the MHPSS Centers yards. The MHPSS centers also serve as training centers for psychology and medical students. PCF supports the MHPSS centers with psychotropic medications through health offices in the governorates, pharmaceutical companies, and benefactors.
